Flat-Rate Pricing for Additional Work

Our flat-rate Pro Support Packages cover the bulk of support needs and allow our clients to budget accordingly. However, Additional Work is sometimes necessary and until now has always been billed hourly. With our recent investment in powerful support and implementation tools we're happy to announce flat-rate pricing for more of our services.

THE FINE PRINT

Turnaround Time
flat-rate pricing is per machine, OS, or software title and varies based on turnaround time. The clock starts counting once ALL product is available and delivered. We can not schedule based on anticipated delivery times. Clients who plan ahead are rewarded.

Standard: Within 5 business days
Priority: Within 48 hours

Qualifications
To qualify for flat-rate pricing, the following requirements must be met:

1. The Mac must be covered under our Pro Support agreement.

2. The Mac must be new or within one year of warranty.

3. We must be involved from recommendation to implementation, meaning we recommend or approve the additional work and we perform or oversee the implementation. Please read this Knowledge Base article for more clarification.

4. Depending on the project, we may require the Mac to be on the same local network as a modern Mac OS X Server that we manage.

5. iPhones connected to a managed Mac are always supported at no additional charge. Support for non-iPhones, or iPhones not synced to a managed Mac, are supported at the hourly rate.

New Mac Setup: Designer
Take the hassle out of setting up a new computer. We will fully set up and configure your computer system for proper functionality. A Forget Computers Technician will:

Unbox and setup up your computer system.
Run Software Update and prepare machine for remote support.
Register AppleCare.
Patch, record and label all new Mac software (Windows and pre-existing Mac software not included. Additional software installation fees may apply).
Organize fonts as per office font management policy.
Configure and test Internet connection, e-mail account and printing.
Configure for office backup system.
Test workstation for proper functionality.
Transfer up to 100GB of data from the old machine. Additional data transfer is $99 per 100GB. Repurposing the old machine is not included.

New Mac Setup: Non-Designer
A new Mac setup for a non-designer is the same as for a designer, but excludes font management and patching or testing of pre-existing Creative Suite software.

Mac OS Upgrade
Upgrade from Mac OS X Leopard 10.5 or Snow Leopard 10.6 to Mac OS X Lion 10.7. This is a remote install and a modern Mac running Mac OS X Server software is required.

Software Install or Upgrade
Software updates (free patches) are included free-of-charge as part of a Pro Support package. However, new software or purchased upgrades are considered Additional Work. Software Installation covers one application. Software Suite Installation covers multiple applications in a suite (such as Adobe Creative Suite). In both cases we will install, configure, update your software and provide ongoing support via our Help Desk. Software not included.

New Printer Setup
We've supported several office printers over the years, so we know what works. Contact us before buying your next printer and we'll help you choose the best one for your office. New printer setup is priced per OS (for example, adding a new printer to five Macs and two Windows machines at the Standard rate would be $203, or 7 x $29). Setup includes working directly with your print vendor before the sale and during configuration to ensure everyone can print successfully.

New User Setup
Save money by contacting us early the next time you hire someone (including freelancers). Setup includes modifying an existing, managed workstation in preparation for the new user, plus setting up server, email and VPN accounts, if applicable.

User Termination
When users leave your company there are several things that need to happen to maintain order and security. We will redirect or delete email accounts, archive local user accounts, change passwords for server and remote access, and do what it takes to help your office remain secure.

Data Recovery
There are two types of data:

Data that's backed up. (We use CrashPlan PRO on our client workstations to keep data continuously safe.)
Data that's not yet lost. (Contact us if you need to add a workstation to your backup.)

Forget Computers will diagnose and attempt data recovery on a failed hard disk at the flat-rate of $99 (messenger or drop-off your Mac to our office) or $199 (we'll pick up your Mac). We'll attempt to recover as much data as possible. Full recovery is sometimes NOT possible. If we're unable to recover ANY (zero) data, then we'll waive the charge and consult Drive Savers for a free estimate.

Install Windows on Mac
If you have an Intel-based Mac and you absolutely must run Windows then we will install, patch, configure and test Parallels or Fusion running a Windows OS. We will continue to support Parallels or VMWare via our Help Desk. However, all Windows support is billed hourly or through our Windows support package. Software and Printer setup in Windows not included.
